There are no set requirements. We want all youth to attend who are age eligible. Youth are highly encouraged to prepare by reading Saints, Volume 1, and studying, pondering, and praying to "Hear Him" more frequently and clearly.
Any youth who will turn 14 by 12/31/2024 is eligible to attend.
Yes, participation fee is $75 per youth, due to your branch or ward via the hard copy or electronic tithing slip. Please add memo that simply states "Nauvoo" and your unit clerk will know what to do with the funds.
Yes, however, each youth will only be baptized for 5 names in order to provide everyone an opportunity to participate. Extra names will be divided amongst others as needed.
Please print and place the 5 family names in a plastic, sealed baggy and place in your luggage in a safe place where you can easily find them when we go to temple. The logistics while at the temple will need to be streamlined, so opportunity to print names at the temple will be minimal.
Please bring your Sunday best for temple attendance.
While we want all youth to experience the Nauvoo temple on the inside, we recognize that there are many circumstances that may preclude a youth from having a temple recommend at this time. While we encourage all youth to do ALL in their power to square things away so they can obtain a temple recommend, We do NOT want that to impede a youth's opportunity to attend youth conference because they don't have a recommend.
A stake leader will provide a tour of the temple grounds, including adding historical context to the original Nauvoo temple, and answer any questions that you have.
Yes! We would love them to attend. They will need to abide by the same code of conduct as all other youth.
Yes, as long as they have not been ordained an Elder or are now members of Relief Society.
Each situation will be treated differently. If there is repeated non-compliance, a parent will be expected to come and get their child at their own expense.
En route to Nauvoo and from Nauvoo, we will be traveling all through the night and all will be sleeping on the buses. During nighttime hours, buses will be separate between girls and boys. While near Nauvoo, we will be staying at Western Illinois University dorm rooms, located about 60 minutes east of Nauvoo.
Youth groups will be organized as follows:
- Youth will be organized into "Companies" with ~10 youth per company.
- Each company will have 2 adult Company Captains
- Leaders will spread youth out based on age and unit so youth get to know others they don't know
- Older youth will be given additional assignments to provide leadership roles
Yes. We live in a digital world and expect all youth to know how to appropriately manage their devices while on a group activity.
Unless there are exceptional circumstances that merit changing groups, the groups assigned will be expected to be maintained throughout the week. There will be sufficient time and activities for youth to interact with all youth across the stake.
Yes, there will be more than one credentialed medical professional during the week at all times.
